Abstract

In the United States, formal Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs have been a part of the United States educational landscape for almost a 100 years, since the first U.S. federal legislation, the Smith-HughesAct, was passed in 1917 to approve funding for these programs. In the United States, TVET is an elective form of education that students are not required to participate in to earn a high school diploma or a college/university degree.
