Optimizing acceptance testing: Evaluating digital video courseware with System Usability Scale (SUS) and NASA-TLX workload metrics

Abstract

This study examines the acceptance and usability of DVC-LS, a digital video courseware, in Malaysian TVET universities. It utilizes SUS and NASA-TLX Workload approaches to gauge student perceptions. SUS measures overall acceptance, while NASA-TLX evaluates workload. Data collection involves administering SUS questionnaires and NASA-TLX Workload forms, with analysis based on respective scoring methodologies. Results show positive reception of DVC-LS among TVET students, with favorable SUS scores and manageable workload according to NASA-TLX assessments. The study focuses mainly on quantitative assessments, potentially overlooking qualitative insights. It suggests integrating the Waterfall-ADDIE model for effective digital courseware development and emphasizes considering both usability (SUS) and workload (NASA-TLX) in user acceptance testing. Socially, the study contributes to educational modernization, potentially reducing educational disparities. This research combines digital courseware development and acceptance testing elements, enriching the existing literature in the field. © 2024, IGI Global. All rights reserved.
