Career Progression of Electronic Engineering Graduates: A Study of LinkedIn Career Profiles

Abstract

Graduate job positions, career progression and top employers of electronic engineering graduates of a public institution in sub-Saharan Africa are studied and analyzed in this work. The findings show that the LinkedIn public profiles of the graduates under study and job positions relating to conventional electronic and telecommunication engineering roles represent a small minority within the dataset. By examining the job transitions among this group of graduates over the course of seven years, it was determined that, software development and information technology roles representing 43.9% of all job positions were more desirable for electronic engineering graduates. © 2022 IEEE.
