Project-based Curriculum Development Model Based on ICAP Framework

Abstract

Project-based curriculum is based on constructivism, which students can acquire the knowledge and skills from a specific project. It is widely used in the field of vocational education. However, the current project-based curriculum development has problems, such as vague teaching objectives and formal project activities. ICAP(Interactive, Constructive, Active and Passive) framework is a taxonomy of innovative learning styles. According to the explicit activities and participation degree of learners, it divides different knowledge change processes and learning results into four levels. This paper combines project-based curriculum development with ICAP framework theory and constructs a 'project-based curriculum development model based on ICAP framework', in order to enrich the connotation of the project curriculum, refine its teaching objectives, and improve its teaching effect. © 2022 IEEE.
