Since the spring semester of 2017, Department of Education at Linyi University began to use mobile Internet APP-based portfolio management system in teacher education, which has big advantages in data collection and data management to evaluate student teacher's performance in the classroom during teaching practicum. The advantages and problems of this APP experienced by student teachers, university supervisors, and department administrators were investigated in this study, which used mixed method design. The findings indicated that mobile Internet APP-based portfolio system is better than paper-based portfolio in some aspects as an effective supplement to mentor-mentee face-to-face communication and evaluation. However, some problems existed, including less technical training, inflexible function design, inefficient data mining and analysis, and so on. In future, we advised continuing to promote this APP into more universities and encourage more teacher educators to try it actively. © 2021 IEEE.
