Where to Next with Supporting the Learning of Trades Work?

Abstract

In this closing chapter, the various concepts introduced and discussed across the book are reiterated and strengthened. Prior to the review of concepts, the chapter proposes and discusses the need to increase the esteem of trades work. In particular, there is an examination of the aspects of trades work leading to fulfilling and sustainable work despite the dire predictions on the future of work for many occupations (Frey & Osborne, 2017). Then, the potential for trades work to offer rich and personally rewarding work is presented, rationalised and proposed as a means to increase the attractiveness, significance and sustainability of trades work. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.
