Several studies have stressed the necessity of fostering students' creativity in the twenty-first -century learning process, particularly at the higher educational level. This study synthesized the characteristics (country, study population, and field of education /subject), methods, and theoretical ground used to foster students' creativity in higher education research. Using the PRISMA 2020 as a guideline for writing a systematic literature review, two databases (ProQuest and Scopus) were searched for peerreviewed, primary, and empirical research published in English between January 1, 2018, and October 15, 2022. A final selection of 28 studies that met the eligibility criteria were examined. The result showed that most of the studies reviewed were conducted on undergraduate students in developed industrialized East Asian countries and used surveys as the primary data collection method. Moreover, the grounding theories used in fostering creativity in higher education research were still scarce. This study showed that further research is needed to examine the mechanism for developing student creativity in higher education with more diverse samples, rigorous methods, and theoretical grounding. © 2024 Walter de Gruyter GmbH. Facing the current severe employment situation, colleges and universities need to strengthen the cultivation and management of talents to meet the social demand. Under the guidance of SWOT theory, this paper combs out the system model of college students' career planning. And from the four aspects of advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and challenges, it constructs the evaluation index system of college students' career planning based on SWOT. Combined with the principle of triangular fuzzy number, the evaluation model of college students' career planning based on fuzzy network analysis is constructed. Based on this, college students in 8 colleges and universities are selected as research objects. After collecting relevant data, the weights of each index are calculated, and the career planning of college students in 8 colleges and universities is comprehensively evaluated and analyzed from the perspectives of different genders and majors. The results show that the indicators of the strengths level have the most significant influence on college students' career planning, with a weight of 0.357. Only college 3 has a comprehensive score of college students' career planning greater than 90, male college students (72.76) have a slightly higher complete score of career planning than female college students (71.81), and students of science (76.92) have a somewhat higher comprehensive score of career planning than students of liberal arts (74.68). Combined with the analysis of this paper, college students' career planning education can be improved by guiding them to establish precise career planning, improving specialized guidance services, and increasing recruitment activities. © 2023 Xiaona Liang, Na Li and Xin Su, published by Sciendo.

The management of modern industrial colleges is the deepening and developing the fusion of industry-teaching-creation and school-enterprise cooperation talent cultivation mode, which has strategic height and practical significance. This paper establishes the evaluation index system of the implementation mechanism of industrial colleges based on BSC theory. It creates the implementation mechanism model of mixed teaching and learning in industrial colleges. Combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, the hierarchical and fuzzy hierarchical analysis methods are used to construct the hybrid teaching quality evaluation model of industry-teaching-creation. Then the weights of the evaluation indexes of the implementation mechanism of industrial colleges are calculated. The industrial colleges of college A and college B are selected as the research objects to comprehensively evaluate the implementation effect of their mixed industry-teaching-creation teaching. The optimal model is determined by calculating the comprehensive scores of the five industry-education -creation hybrid teaching implementation mechanisms. The study shows that the highest weight of finance is 0.333. The total scores of college A and B are 80.56 and 83.33, and college B has a higher level of industry-teaching-creation hybrid teaching implementation mechanism. The composite score of the co-constructed science and technology park model is 0.233, the optimal mixed teaching implementation mechanism of Industry, education and creativity. © 2023 Li Li, published by Sciendo.

Introduction: Understanding the clinical core competence of nursing students in higher vocational colleges is crucial for adjusting the nursing core curriculum and training of nursing professionals. However, little is known about the level of clinical core competence of higher vocational nursing students in China. Objective: To investigate nursing students’ clinical core competence in the school of nursing and health at a vocational and technical college in Guangdong, China. Methods: The Core Competency Scale for Registered Nurses in China was used to evaluate the clinical core competence of higher vocational nursing students from February to March 2022. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal–Wallis test. Results: A total of 1,120 nursing students were investigated, 1,069 were valid questionnaires, and the response rate was 95.4%. The total score of core competence score of higher vocational nursing students was 176.55 ± 43.95, only 43.3% of students obtained an overall score more than 178, and 47.7% of students scored between 116 and 178 scores. The lowest score was on critical thinking and scientific research (2.72 ± 0.77) following by clinical nursing (2.85 ± 0.80), which had differences in gender, category of students, and years of study. There were differences in the total average score of core competence in terms of gender and category of students. Leadership and interpersonal relationships differ significantly by gender, while professional development, teaching, and coaching differ significantly by category of student. Conclusions: The findings revealed the core competence of higher vocational nursing students is at a medium level. Moreover, critical thinking and scientific research, and clinical nursing ability are significantly insufficient. © The Author(s) 2024.

Introduction: This study addresses the gap in evaluating labor literacy amongst vocational students in China's higher vocational education system. It aims to develop a comprehensive framework for assessing essential labor competencies, thereby contributing to a nuanced understanding of vocational education 's role in skill development. Methods: Employing a multifaceted research methodology, this study integrates questionnaire surveys, econometric analyses, and the Delphi method to assess labor literacy among 749 students from three leading vocational institutions. A pioneering labor literacy assessment model is introduced: S = 0.5466B1 +0.1816B2 +0.1623B3 +0.1095B4 , where S denotes the overall labor literacy score. Here, B1 represents labor concepts, B2 denotes habits and qualities, B3 signifies knowledge and skills, and B4 encapsulates emotions and attitudes, illustrating a comprehensive approach to measuring labor literacy. Results: Our findings reveal pronounced disparities in labor literacy across the identified dimensions, with particular deficiencies in labor concepts. The study also identifies six determinants—gender, political profile, academic performance, internship and training base utilization, inclination towards innovation and entrepreneurship, and labor education evaluation mechanisms—that significantly influence labor literacy outcomes. Discussion: Highlighting the imperative for a contextually informed and holistic approach to labor literacy, this study's insights advocate for educational strategies that are both aligned with labor market demands and cognizant of socio-cultural nuances. The developed assessment model not only propels the theoretical discourse in vocational education forward but also provides a pragmatic guide for educators and policy makers, aiming to mitigate disparities and enhance labor competencies through refined educational practices. © © 2024 Wu, Duan and Luo.

The development of Augmented Reality (AR) technology has proliferated in the educational arena. The results of subjective observations of engineering mechanics learning show the decline in student interest and understanding caused by conventional teaching methods, which are the biggest obstacles in the learning process, thus impacting students’ cognitive abilities. This study develops AR as an instructional media for engineering mechanics using the Analyse, State, Select, Utilise, Require, and Evaluate (ASSURE) instructional design model with an R&D approach. This study used performance assessment instruments, questionnaires, and interviews with students and lecturers as the primary data. The subjects of this study were 103 students of Mechanical Engineering Vocational education at Universitas Negeri Padang in the 2020–2021 academic year. The results showed that the use of AR-based learning media had a positive impact on students’ understanding of basic concepts and skills. In addition, AR media support independent learning and provide direct feedback to students. The acquisition of validation results from material experts is 88.48% (very valid), media experts of 89.26% (very valid), and linguists of 87.41% (very valid). The average practicality test results from the lecturer’s responses were 89.70% (very practical) and 81.63% (practical) student responses. In conclusion, the results of developing mobile AR applications that are declared valid and practical can provide a more interactive and exciting learning experience for students to increase their interest and understanding of learning. Therefore, mobile AR is an exciting option for further integrating engineering education into higher education . © 2024 by the authors.

This study investigates the perceived employability and academic performance of engineering students enrolled for placement services at higher education setting in India. The key question is how the students overcome the burden of placement activities along with the regular academics and how far the academic stress effects on their academic performance and particularly on their perception of being employable. This study is an empirical study which intends to test a model using PLS SEM approach (SmartPLS 3.0). Survey of engineering students in the northern India was done through multistage random sampling and data analysis is done to test the hypotheses. Result of PLS-SEM analysis proposes that engineering students particularly enrolled for placement services, can perform academically well and have high perception of being employable due to improved skills despite of having academic stress. Predictive relevance of the proposed model further extends the understanding of the role of placement services on perceived employability and academic performance among engineering students. The results of this study through testing thus exposes the channelisation of academic stress into productive factor perceived employability which is in benefit for mental well-being of students. With the evolving demands of the global and Chinese economies, cultivating critical thinking and creativity has become imperative for social and economic development. However, contemporary educational practices have not kept pace with this essential need. This study examines the effects of project-based learning and project-based flipped classrooms on critical thinking and creativity in higher vocational colleges. Moreover, this research delves into the disparity and comparative analysis between the two approaches. Methodology – A between-group quasi-experimental study was designed. Data were collected from 120 respondents from one higher vocational college in Shanxi District using cluster sampling. The Ennis-Weir Critical Thinking test and District creativity test were used to collect data for further analysis. Data were analysed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and paired-sample t-test. Paired-sample t-tests are employed to test the effects of two teaching methods, while ANCOVA is used to compare the discrepancy between the two methods. With the combination of paired sample t-test and ANCOVA, the more effective teaching method can be determined. Findings – The results indicated that project-based learning and flipped classrooms significantly affected critical thinking and creativity. Besides, the project-based flipped classrooms had a larger effect on critical thinking and creativity, proving to be a more effective teaching approach to transform the present curriculum pedagogy. Significance – This study theoretically integrates class activities into higher -order thinking skills and guides teachers and educators to cultivate talents in higher vocational education . © (2023), (Universiti Utara Malaysia Press). Dual Vocational Training (DVT) is a recently implemented policy in Spain that is established as a new modality within the Vocational Training system. Despite the fact that this training modality has shown a sustained growth during the last years, there are certain complexities that question the quality and success of its development. This research presents the opinion of different actors involved in the different areas of responsibility of VET and VETD in Andalusia. Through the development of semi-structured interviews, the aim is to know the perception of the actors involved in VET about the state of the Andalusian VET in the higher Level Training Cycles (HLTC), and to identify the limitations and potentialities offered to young people by the dual mode with respect to the traditional mode of VET in Andalusia. The results obtained indicate that the development of this policy strengthens the link between the students and the company and facilitates a more specific and deeper learning process, thus increasing their chances of labor market insertion. However, there are some limitations in terms of the selection criteria established for students wishing to study vocational training, the coordination between the educational center and the company, the remuneration of students and the functions performed by vocational training students in the company. © 2024 Univ Nacional de Educacion a Distancia (UNED). There is currently a teacher shortage in remote areas in China, as the willingness of government-sponsored students to enter the profession continues to decrease because of factors such as high work pressure and relatively low salaries. We investigated the influence of professional commitment on willingness to enter the teaching profession among 395 government-sponsored teachers’ college students majoring in art education , and assessed the mediating role of learning satisfaction in this relationship. The results indicated there was a significant positive correlation between professional commitment and teaching willingness. Additionally, learning satisfaction played a mediating role in this relationship. Our findings contribute to understanding of the relationships among professional commitment, teaching willingness, and learning satisfaction among teachers’ college students majoring in art education within the context of Chinese higher education . The results also offer practical insights for educators to enhance the willingness of art education majors to enter the teaching profession. © 2024 Scientific Journal Publishers Limited.
